Cape Tribulation and the Daintree Rainforest is the only place on Earth where two UNESCO World Heritage sites border one another. The Daintree Rainforest is the oldest surviving rainforest on the planet, estimated to be up to 165 million years old. The Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest living organism, stretching approximately 2,300km along the coast of Queensland.

No holiday to Queensland is complete without a visit to Cape Tribulation and while you’re here, why not visit The Great Barrier Reef and experience both World Heritage sites in the same day! The majority of visitors begin their Daintree holiday in Cairns where there are many tour buses that visit the Daintree as well as ample options for car hire for the self drivers.

As you head north out of Cairns you will travel along the recently named; “Great Barrier Reef Drive,” a scenic coastal road which will truly set the atmosphere for what you are about to experience.

As you continue along the drive you will pass by the coastal town of Port Douglas and through Mossman before arriving at the Daintree River Crossing. This is where the adventure really begins! After crossing the Daintree River you will officially enter the Daintree Rainforest where you will spend the next hour winding your way through pristine tropical rainforest and enjoying glimpses out to the Coral Sea. There are plenty of view points and rainforest boardwalks to enjoy on the drive before you will reach your destination of Cape Tribulation where “the rainforest meets the reef”.
